You can read Campion’s poem here and listen to a rather sprightly rendition of a song settings of it here.
I came across a setting of this poem when I sang in an early music group in my late teens and early twenties. I found the image of the wheel of fortune strangely consoling (it helped that I didn’t know about the game show at this point) and, actually, still do. Campion’s emphasis in the poem seems to be more about if you’re up then you’ll go down, but I also like to think about if you’re down you’ll go up. Sometimes it does seem like it must be a bloody big wheel though.
